Do you want to change one or many areas in your life? Maybe the relationships you have with people, the happiness in your heart? Gratitude is a perfect place to start living a more fulfilled life. When you learn how to practice gratitude your friends will notice something different about you. Your family will think something is a little new about you. The truth is that the feelings of gratitude, love and compassion can extend your lifetime and improve your health. There is a science to this but that is not what today is about. What we will be talking about are some basic ways to begin a journey of thankfulness, gratitude and no complaining.

Simple Ways to Practice Gratitude.

1 Notice your daily world from a point of gratitude and be impressed at all the goodness we consider granted. The video “A Good Day” from TEDxSF can get you in the right frame of mind.

2 Keep a gratitude journal. All it requires is keeping in mind several things you are grateful for every day. No fancy note pad, no computer system program needed.

3 If you recognize something or someone with an unfavorable characteristic (the cold conference room), change it in your mind to a favorable characteristic (the meeting room with a great view).

4 Gratitude requires humbleness, which the dictionary specifies as “modest and considerate.” Check out where it fits in your life. The article”Humility: A Quiet, Underappreciated Strength” is an excellent start.

5 Provide a minimum of one compliment daily. It can be to an individual or it can be asking someone to share your gratitude of something else (“I enjoy how quiet it is in the morning, don’t you?”).

6 When you discover yourself in a bad situation ask: Exactly what can I learn? When I look back on this, without feeling, exactly what will I be grateful for?

7 Vow to not whine, slam, or chatter for 10 days. If you slip, rally your self-discipline and keep going. Notice the quantity of energy you were investing in unfavorable ideas and actions.

8 Sound really pleased to hear from individuals who call you on the phone. Whether the caller responds with surprise or satisfy, he’ll know you value speaking with him.

9 End up being associated with a cause that is very important to you. Contribute money or time or skill. By joining in, you’ll get greater appreciation for the company, and it will value you more, too.
